After considerable slashing, I’ve cut my children’s book — which, as I mentioned before, was accidentally the world’s longest children’s poem — down to a more reasonable length.
It’s now “hearty” as opposed to “record breaking.”
But it’s also not quite like the average children’s book out there. The closest influence is Dr. Seuss which is a style I didn’t bump into (outside of Seuss himself) when my children were at the prime age for that type of book.
So… I’d like to run it past some other sets of eyes and ears before jumping in on final edits and the significant number of illustrations.
If you’d be interested in beta reading the children’s book, please reply to this email.
The poem should take about five minutes to read, then I have a handful of specific questions around the story.
You can answer from an adult perspective or, if you have a kid who can handle a book with no pictures that’s not The Book with No Pictures, I’d happily welcome a kid perspective too.
There are no right or wrong answers (so it’s like a test at Brown). I mostly just need the honest-est feedback possible so I can make sure the story is doing everything it’s supposed to be doing. And that all these words I’m using are worth it.
Interested? Reply to the email. I’m not looking for a huge number of people so no pressure.

Be happy to read it!
